The Youth Football Study recently concluded its first year. USA Football has issued press release detailing some of the preliminary results of the data. A pdf of the release can be dowloaded here.
Datalys Center and USA Football have teamed up to examine player safety in youth football on a national level – a research “first” for America’s most popular sport. Specifically, this program will seek to promote safer playing standards and discover new ways to advance youth football player safety and lessen injury risks, including concussion. The Youth Football Safety Study will be the most comprehensive assessment of the concussion experience in youth sports to date.
The Datalys Center will use a customized version of the Datalys Center Injury Surveillance Tool that was specifically designed for youth sports. The Datalys Center will place athletic trainers at leagues’ practice and game fields across the country to manage and document player health.
