High School NATION-SP

High School NATION was originally funded through the generous grant support of the National Athletic Trainers’ AssociationResearch and Education Foundation and BioCrossroads of Indianapolis, Indiana, but data collection will continue into perpetuity. This is the first project integrating injury surveillance, treatment and patient outcomes using data gathered by Athletic Trainers (AT) in public high schools. The program is named the National Athletic Treatment, Injury and Outcomes Network (NATION™).

The purpose of NATION™ is threefold. First, NATION will describe both time loss and non-time loss injuries in the high school setting. Non-time loss injuries are important because they often include overuse injuries and injuries or illnesses that may later become significant health issues. Secondly, NATION will describe the frequency and value of healthcare provided by ATs in the high school setting. Lastly, NATION will evaluate the patient-reported health-outcomes related of student-athletes who are provided care by ATs in the high school setting.

If you are an athletic trainer working with high school athletics and interested in participating in NATION, please contact the Datalys Center at nation@datalyscenter.org. A Datalys Center representative will answer your questions and provide information on the participation options available to you.
